Every week artists from different provinces of Peru and from other Latin American countries write to me — Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain. Many want to record with me at A Dúo Studio, but distance often makes it impossible. The good news: there are three work modalities that work perfectly remotely, and here I explain how.

What I CAN do with you remotely

Digital audio lets us work as if we were in the same room. If you have well-recorded files, we can do a professional project without you traveling to Lima. These are the three modalities:

1

Mastering only

For whom: you already have your song mixed (final stereo version) and need it to sound competitive, with professional volume and compatible with all platforms (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, radio).

What I do: final EQ, multiband compression, dynamic control, mastering limiter, loudness standard adjustment (-14 LUFS for streaming), delivery in WAV 44.1 kHz/16-bit and 24-bit.

Typical turnaround: 3 business days from receiving the file.

2

Mixing + mastering

For whom: you recorded at another studio (or in your home studio with good quality) and have the separate tracks (stems / multitrack). You want a professional mix + the mastering ready to distribute.

What I do: I receive your tracks in an organized session, do the complete mix (balance, EQ, compression, effects, automation), send you references for review, apply changes, then master. You receive the final song ready to upload to platforms.

Typical turnaround: approximately 1 week, depending on complexity and revisions.

3

Consulting / remote production

For whom: you have a project in progress and need an expert ear. Maybe you doubt the arrangements, you don't know if the song is ready to record, or you need artistic direction before investing in a studio.

What I do: consulting sessions via video call (Google Meet/Zoom), analysis of your demos, arrangement suggestions, production plan, instrumentation recommendations or sound references. I can also participate as a remote producer: I guide you through the entire process even if you record at another studio.

Typical turnaround: 1-2 hour sessions, scheduled by availability.

What I CANNOT do remotely (and I'm being honest)

Not everything can be done remotely, and I prefer to be clear rather than promise something that won't turn out well:

  • Live instrument recording — drums, electric guitars with amps, lead vocals that require a good microphone and acoustic treatment. For that you need a physical studio.
  • Production that depends on my presence — some productions need me to play instruments, direct live sessions, or be in the booth with the artist.

If your project falls into these cases, the options are: (a) coordinate a trip to Lima for intensive sessions, or (b) record at a studio near you with good quality and then send me the files for mixing/mastering. Both work; it depends on your budget and timeline.

The step-by-step process

I want you to know exactly what to expect. This is how we work:

1

You write me with details

  • WhatsApp (+51 924 917 406) or the contact form
  • Tell me: genre, how many songs, type of service (mastering / mix+mastering / consulting), sound reference (a song you'd like yours to sound similar to)
  • If you can, send a demo or raw track so I can evaluate it
2

Quote and timeline

I send you within 48 hours:

  • Service price (in USD for international clients, Peruvian soles for Peru)
  • Estimated delivery time
  • Number of revisions included (usually 2 rounds)
  • What I need you to send me to start
3

Initial payment: 50% via PayPal

We work with a 50/50 scheme:

  • 50% upfront — to confirm the slot in the schedule and start working
  • 50% on delivery — before sending the final high-quality files

Payment is made via PayPal (I send you a link or invoice). Below I explain how it works if you've never used it.

4

You upload the files

I'll share a folder link (Google Drive or Dropbox) or you can send the files via WeTransfer. The important thing is that they are:

  • In WAV format (not MP3) at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, 24-bit
  • With the same start point (all tracks aligned from bar 1)
  • Well-named: "01_KICK.wav", "02_SNARE.wav", "03_BASS.wav", "04_GUITAR_L.wav", etc.
  • Without extreme processing (no compression, EQ or reverb baked into the stem)

In the next section I detail all of this.

5

First version + revisions

I send you the first version (watermarked MP3, not the final). You have 2 rounds of revisions included in the price: tell me with timestamped notes what you want to adjust ("at 0:42 the bass is too loud", "the chorus needs more reverb", etc.) and I apply changes.

Revisions are in Spanish, written or by voice note if you prefer to explain it that way.

6

Final payment + delivery

Once the final version is approved:

  • You pay the remaining 50% via PayPal
  • I send you the final files: WAV 24-bit (for distributors) and MP3 320 kbps (for social media and reference)
  • If you need it, also instrumental version, a cappella, or mixed stems (for later use)
  • Receipt (or formal invoice if you need it for accounting)

How to prepare your files for the mix to come out well

This is the part that most affects the result. A professional mix starts with well-prepared files. Especially applies to Mixing + Mastering modality:

Golden rules for sending your tracks

  • Format: WAV (not MP3 or AAC). Minimum resolution 44.1 kHz / 24-bit.
  • Same start point: export all tracks from bar 1, not from the "first sound". This way the tracks will be automatically aligned when imported.
  • No extreme processing: avoid putting EQ, compression or reverb directly on the exported track (unless it's an essential part of the sound — e.g. a creative delay on a guitar). I need the sound as clean as possible to mix it well.
  • No master bus: don't send me the track with a compressor or limiter on the master. Exported tracks must be individual (stems), not a previous mix.
  • No saturation: no track should reach 0 dB or clip. Ideally peaks at -6 dB.

Naming convention

This saves me hours of organization and makes the work more efficient:

  • 01_KICK.wav
  • 02_SNARE_TOP.wav
  • 03_HIHAT.wav
  • 04_BASS_DI.wav
  • 05_BASS_AMP.wav
  • 06_GUITAR_L.wav
  • 07_GUITAR_R.wav
  • 08_VOX_LEAD.wav
  • 09_VOX_HARMONY_1.wav
  • 10_VOX_HARMONY_2.wav

Extra info that helps a lot

  • BPM and key of the song
  • Sound reference (link to a Spotify/YouTube song you want yours to sound similar to in the mix)
  • Artist notes (what you like, what you don't, what you want to highlight)
  • Lyrics (especially if the vocals aren't clear and I need to make decisions)

Timelines and pricing

Prices vary by genre, number of tracks and complexity. As a general reference:

  • Mastering: 3 business days, fixed price per song
  • Mixing + mastering: approximately 1 week, price by number of tracks
  • Consulting: 1-2 hour sessions, hourly price

For exact ranges, visit the remote work pricing section. Each quote is personalized because every project is different.

International payment: why PayPal?

For clients outside Peru, PayPal is the safest, fastest and simplest way:

  • For you: you pay with card or PayPal balance in your local currency (Mexican peso, Argentine peso, Colombian peso, dollar, euro, etc.). PayPal handles the conversion automatically.
  • Buyer protection: if for some reason the service is not delivered, PayPal backs you up.
  • No need for international wire transfer: which is usually expensive, slow and complicated.
  • Automatic receipt: immediate payment record.

If you don't have a PayPal account, creating one takes 5 minutes at paypal.com. For Peruvian clients I also accept Yape, Plin or local bank transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries do you work with?

Any Spanish-speaking country. I've worked with artists from Peru (Lima and provinces), Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Spain and the United States (Latinos). If you can communicate with me in Spanish and have access to PayPal, we can work together.

What if the included 2 revisions don't satisfy me?

If you need more rounds, additional ones are charged separately at a reduced price. But in my experience, with 2 well-used rounds (clear and specific notes) most projects end up ready.

Can I hear references of other remote work you've done?

Yes, of course. When you write me, send me your project genre and I'll send you 2-3 references of similar works so you can evaluate the style.

Do you work with genres other than rock or ballad?

Although I specialize in rock, pop rock and ballads, I've also worked urban music, Peruvian folk, fusion and experimental projects. If I'm not sure I can do justice to your genre, I'll tell you straight and can recommend a specialized colleague.

What if I have no idea how to export the tracks?

I help you. I send you specific instructions for your DAW (Logic, Pro Tools, Reaper, Studio One, FL Studio, Cubase, etc.). And if after that you still have doubts, we schedule 30 minutes via video call to do it together. That's not charged extra — it's part of the service.

Have a project and live far from Lima?

Tell me what you need and we'll see how we work. I respond personally within 48 hours.
